Last week, Carsten Effertz, founder of Tanner Speed Academy, led an inspiring workshop in Mumbai — a city where sport, passion, and opportunity meet on every corner.
Together with Dream Sports Foundation and the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA), the session focused on a shared mission: giving more young athletes access to quality training — no matter their background or resources.
Hosted by Kanakia International School, the workshop combined coach education with practical, low-equipment speed exercises, showing how strong athletic foundations can be developed anywhere with the right guidance and intent.
“India has incredible potential — and we’re just getting started.”

Dream Sports Foundation, the philanthropic arm of India’s leading sports tech company Dream Sports, works to close gaps in the sporting ecosystem and create more pathways for talent development across the country. Their commitment to community impact aligns perfectly with Tanner Speed’s philosophy of making world-class speed training accessible to everyone.
Likewise, the Mumbai School Sports Association, a historic organization that has promoted inter-school sports since 1893, continues to play a vital role in nurturing physical education and competition among tens of thousands of students across the city.
Inside the Tanner Speed Method: From Philosophy to Practice
Throughout the workshop, coaches explored the Tanner Speed Academy training model in depth — starting with its philosophy and definition of sport-specific speed. They discussed why running speed in football differs from track sprinting, analyzed milliseconds that made the difference in the 2022 World Cup, and learned the biomechanics behind efficient movement and posture. The sessions shed light on how more than 60 muscles must work together in harmony, and how coordination forms the base of every performance.
The workshop also guided participants through Tanner Speed’s coaching framework and its step-by-step methodology, including the well-known “Golden 8” warm-up routine and practical agility ladder drills adaptable for all levels. By combining science, movement, and actionable exercises, local coaches gained hands-on tools to help young athletes in India develop faster, move smarter, and train with purpose.
The energy, curiosity, and dedication shown by local coaches and participants made this workshop a powerful step toward building a sustainable foundation for speed and movement training in India — one that connects tradition, innovation, and opportunity.
