Tanner Speed Academy Expands Partnership with NK Tabor

From first-team performance to youth development: building a club-wide approach to speed training.

Tanner Speed Academy continues to strengthen its collaboration with Slovenian football club NK Tabor. TSA Founder and CEO Carsten Effertz recently returned to Slovenia for his second visit, building on the work initiated earlier this season.

NK Tabor has also made an impressive start to the campaign, recording 7 wins from its first 9 league matches and establishing itself among the leading teams in the table.

Further Developing Speed on the Pitch

The second visit focused on evaluating progress since the initial implementation and introducing new training content for both players and coaching staff.

Carsten introduced new exercises and progressions targeting acceleration, deceleration, coordination and change of direction — key physical abilities that underpin performance in modern football.

The objective is to make speed development an integral part of regular football training, enabling players to develop these abilities consistently within their existing training environment.

Bringing the Methodology to the Youth Academy

A major step forward in the partnership is the introduction of the Tanner Speed Academy methodology within NK Tabor's youth academy.

During the visit, Carsten conducted a coach education session followed by practical training with players born in 2014 and 2015.

At this age, the priority is to build a strong foundation for future athletic development. Training focuses on coordination, movement quality, rhythm and fundamental acceleration skills, helping young players develop the movement capabilities they will need as the physical demands of football increase.

By combining coach education with practical exercises that can be incorporated into regular training sessions, NK Tabor is taking an important step towards establishing a consistent approach to speed development across its age groups.

Building a Long-Term Development Structure

The collaboration between Tanner Speed Academy and NK Tabor goes beyond individual training sessions. The long-term objective is to equip coaches with the knowledge, tools and methodology to develop players continuously and systematically.

From the first team to the youngest academy players, the partnership aims to establish speed development as a fundamental part of the club's football philosophy.

We look forward to continuing our work with NK Tabor and helping build a sustainable foundation for player development throughout the club.
