On March 28, 2026, Tanner Speed Academy hosted an exclusive Speed Day in collaboration with IFK Göteborg at their professional training facility, Kamratgården. The event brought together 20 talented boys and girls from various clubs, all aiming to improve their football-specific speed in a truly professional environment.
A Unique Pro-Level Experience
The day began inside the club’s official facilities, where first-team players usually prepare for matches. Participants took part in a 30-minute theory session, gaining valuable insights into the fundamentals of speed in modern football.
After the classroom session, the players moved onto one of the training pitches typically used by the professionals. This gave every participant the opportunity to train in the same environment as elite players—an experience that adds both motivation and inspiration.

Focus on Football-Specific Speed
Unlike traditional sprint training, the focus of the Speed Day was entirely on game-relevant speed. In football, speed is not just about running in a straight line—it’s about quick reactions, explosive movements, and fast changes of direction in tight spaces.
The 2.5-hour training session included:
- Running technique (including the proven “Golden 8” method)
- Coordination ladder drills
- Acceleration and change of direction (CoD)
- Reaction speed and explosiveness
- 10-meter sprint test with video analysis

Individual Analysis & Personal Training Plans
A key highlight of the event was the individual speed testing. Each player was filmed during their sprint test and later received a detailed analysis of their running technique.
Based on this, every participant received:
- A personalized performance report
- Individual training recommendations
This ensures that players can continue improving beyond the event, with clear and structured guidance tailored to their needs.
Developing the Speed That Matters
The main goal of the Speed Day was clear: to develop the kind of speed that truly makes a difference on the pitch.
- Explosive first steps
- Quick reactions
- Efficient movement in tight spaces
- Fast and controlled changes of direction
These are the qualities that define modern football performance—and exactly what Tanner Speed focuses on.
