Tanner Speed Academy is delighted to welcome Club zur Vahr Bremen as a new partner.
The club’s ambitious hockey department has identified speed development as one of the key physical qualities it wants to systematically improve within its youth development program.
While many people associate Tanner Speed Academy primarily with football, our work extends across a wide range of sports. We work with athletes, teams and clubs from different team sports, including hockey, where speed, acceleration and movement quality play an important role in performance.
To kick off the new cooperation, Tanner Speed Academy CEO Carsten Effertz spent two days on site in Bremen, working closely with players and coaches to establish the foundation for a structured, long-term approach to speed development.
Testing the Players
The first step was a comprehensive speed assessment of players across the U12 to U16 age groups.
The testing provided objective data on the players’ current performance levels and helped identify both strengths and individual areas for improvement.
The results will now be analyzed by Tanner Speed Academy and translated into practical training recommendations for the players and different age groups. The objective is not simply to measure speed, but to use the data to guide and improve the training process.
Educating the Coaches
A key part of Carsten’s visit was also the education of the Club zur Vahr coaching staff.
Long-term speed development requires more than individual training sessions. Coaches need to understand the principles behind speed development and, most importantly, how to integrate them into their regular training environment.
During the two days, Carsten introduced the coaches to the Tanner Speed methodology, combining theoretical knowledge with practical sessions on the pitch.
Continuous Support Through the Tanner Speed Online Platform
The cooperation continues beyond the two days in Bremen.
The Club zur Vahr coaches now have access to the Tanner Speed Online Platform, providing them with continuous access to exercises, training content and the Tanner Speed methodology.
This allows the coaches to independently implement the training recommendations and systematically integrate speed development into their regular youth training.
The combination of objective testing, individual analysis, practical training recommendations, coach education and continuous digital support provides a strong foundation for the long-term development of the club’s young hockey players.
